Travelling with Cats and Dogs in a Camper

Travelling With Fur Buddies- Canines and Felines

Who hasn’t dreamed of taking a grand tour of our magnificent country? And what if you could experience this adventure with your loyal furry companion by your side, whether it’s a trusty doggo or even a feline friend? Picture it now: hitting the open road and exploring the wonders of Australia or embarking on any camping trip with your Best Fur Buddy. The thrill of such an epic journey is simply indescribable!

Pack Pet Essentials

When you’re hitting the road with your furry friend in Australia, make sure to pack some pet-friendly essentials!

Pet Food

You’ll need plenty of snacks for your buddy, so pack their favorite food and treats. Don’t forget the bowls too – ones that are spill-proof and can handle your pet’s enthusiastic munching!

Tip: Pack your fur buddies’ food in an airtight container to keep it fresh for the trip and makes easy storage.

Stay Safe

Make sure you pack a leash and collar or harness for the Cat, because we want everyone to stay safe while out exploring the new sights and smells.

Tip: Pack multiples, as you never know when you may leave a harness or lead behind. Always keep a spare in your Austrack camper and car.

Pet Blankets and Beds

Bring along a comfy bed or blanket too, because every furry explorer deserves some snuggles at the end of a long day. Unless they intend on taking over your bed, then you may need a spare blanket.

Tip: Our furbabies love to travel, but they also need their down time, put a bed somewhere quiet and secluded in the camper so they can recharge for their next adventure.

Pet Medications

Pack some medications and a first-aid kit just in case, and don’t forget to keep those vaccination and medical records handy, especially when you’re out camping or exploring nature. Do a quick vet visit and see if your buddies’ microchip is updated.

Cleaning Supplies

Let’s not forget about poop bags and cleaning supplies, because our pets need to keep their paws clean, and we want to keep our rides smelling fresh! As for our Cat travelers, take along a portable kitty tray and kitty litter. Choose a good travel litter tray that is waterproof, easy to clean and collapsible (for easy storage), yet sturdy (so it won’t collapse while your cat is using it).

Tip: Pack excess liners to make of easy disposal at each stop.

Just like baby wipes for humans, pet wipes are a must-have. You never know what your furbabies might find and roll in, so stock up on pet wipes and baby wipes. And don’t forget a spray-on “shampoo and conditioner” to tackle any unexpected messes they get into. Keep those tails wagging and paws sparkling on your camping trips!

Pet Toys

Finally, pack some of your pet’s favorite toys and entertainment to keep them occupied during the trip.  Don’t forget a cardboard box for the cat, and maybe some catnip to keep the cat happy.

For the hot travelling days, mix up some chicken or beef stock and put in a snap lock bag in the freezer. Once arrived at the destination bring out for an icy- cold treat for the furbabies after a long day in the car.

And remember, safety always comes first, whilst travelling in the car, make sure both fur babies are tethered in.

Tip: A carrier makes easy transport and a safe bed for your curious cat.  And don’t forget – never leave your furry friend unattended in a vehicle, especially during hot weather.

Safe travels and happy trails to you and your beloved fur babies!
