HERVEY BAY HAPPY PLACES

Being a north-facing bay in the Coral Sea, the waters of Hervey Bay are calm – perfect for swimming long laps adjacent to the shore, or relaxing watching the kids play on the sandy beach and splashing in the ocean. Located 3 hours’ drive north of Brisbane, you are sure to fall in love with this laid-back community. Don’t forget to take a drive up to Toogoom a very quaint fishing village with a boat ramp, or to Burrum Heads, located at the mouth of the Isis River and great also for fishing or boating. Spend at least a week on the Fraser Coast, because you won’t run out of adventures!

There are numerous whale watching vessels operating during whale season, or dusk cruises and fishing charters available at all times of the year. The Hervey Bay Dive Centre will cater to nature and wildlife cruises or sailing and water tours. Don’t forget to book your day tour to Fraser Island or K’Gari (aboriginal word for ‘paradise’) as it is becoming commonly known. The jetties of Hervey Bay are amazing at sunset and sunrise, and Urangan Pier will give you a great view of a dusky sky over the water.

Try your hand at jet-skiing the Straits; dinner at the Boat Harbour or Marina; lunch at Kingfisher on Fraser Island; explore old-town Maryborough and learn the history of the early settlement of this great area. Visit Susan River Homestead if you’re keen for a horse trail ride or camping! There is the Go Kart Track, water parks, endless sand, bike tracks and shopping centres. Put Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast on your Camping Bucket List as there are plenty of caravan parks, Youcamp properties and surrounding National Parks to park your camper at. Have fun!
