Most people agree that they have friends and family that they just don’t get to see enough of. Why not do your best to get everyone together soon? Organizing a terrific camping trip is one way to do it. Then you can all be outdoors and enjoying adventures. Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting your home ready for company or enough sleeping quarters. You just have to make sure everyone has a sturdy camper trailer they can tow to the designated spot for a bit of fun with the family.

Organizing a camping trip doesn’t have to be stressful. Make sure you start planning it early though. The sooner people can find out about it, the more likely they will be to attend. A calendar can get filled up quickly in any household. Send out invites in writing or email them to those that you would like to attend.

Let them know the location for the camping trip, the dates, and what they should bring along. Let them know it is a celebration for friends and family and that you would love for them to join you. Most people will be very eager to do so when they get their invitation.

Camping is one of the most common activities that people do around Australia. Given the fact that there is so much to see and do, there is something for everyone to enjoy on such an outing. The problem though is that people so often have the same idea. The weekends are the typical time when people aren’t working so the camping areas are jammed full of people.

That can make it hard to really feel like you are getting back to nature. You may find it hard to get to your favorite camping area, to find a quiet place for fishing, or to enjoy the best picnic areas. That doesn’t mean you should just stop going camping though. Instead, you may want to change around your schedule a bit.

If you can go camping during the week you will find that most of these locations are less crowded. Since it is warm enough to camp in Australia all year long then you can’t wait for the seasons to change. What you can do though is take a few days of work and pack the camper trailer to head out and go camping during the week when most people won’t be able to.

If you like to camp often you may consider working on the weekends so that you get a few days off during the week. Sometimes that is something that is really easy to do if your place of employment is open all week long. If not you can consider using some of your holiday days off to go camping during the week. The Australian Alps Are a Unique Place to Camp

For most people the thought of camping in Australia takes them to the beach area or the caves. If you want something that is more unique and every bit as lovely you may consider the Australian Alps. This mountains region has plenty of great streams that flow through it for fishing. You will find trails for hiking and plenty of plants and animals around the area.

There is more than 1.5 million acres of wilderness to be found along the Australian Alps. Many of the areas here have great campsites and you will also find great cabins for rent. It all depends on how many of the amenities of home you wish to have. Many people like to explore during the day but for nighttime they want to be very warm and cozy inside. For others the ultimate camping experience in this part of the world is to do it outdoors with the basic necessities and nothing more.

If you enjoy history you can consider camping in the locations where the Aborigine people lived so long ago. There are still plenty of reminders of that early culture in place. It can help you to step back into time and to learn more about what life would have been like for them living in such conditions. There are plenty of songs and stories that include these particular regions of the Australian Alps.

After you have camped in such a destination you will find it is well deserved that this location has been credited as one of the National landscape areas of Australia. It is also preserved in areas by the National Heritage List due to the culture that has been identified here.

Keep in mind that the Australian Alps offer a higher altitude than the plains. For those with breathing problems this may be a problem due to the air being thinner. Even though that are in good overall health may find it takes them a day or two in order to adjust to such changes. Make sure you aren’t involved in too rigorous of a daily schedule until your body is doing well with the altitude.

The other factor is that it can be very cold in the Australian Alps. You will want to make sure you have adequate clothing and shelter. In some areas it can be tough for certain vehicles and caravans to get into them. Make sure you have a vehicle that will do well on rugged terrain and of course a well built off road camper trailer!

A First Aid Kit Should Be Part of Your Camping Gear

Most of the time a camping trip around areas of Australia will go off without any problems. However, there can be times when something will happen and since medical care can be far away you will want to have some supplies with you. It is a good idea to take along a first aid kit and have it with your camper trailer or stuck in a corner of your rooftop tent. A smaller one for hiking and other events that you can carry with you is a great idea too.

You can purchase first aid kits that are completely stocked with all you need. The other option if for you to create one of your own. Make sure you have some cream for itching, antibiotic gel for cuts, bandages, wraps, sterile gloves, and burn gel. Bring along aspirin, common medicines that your family uses for ailments, and even flares in case you need someone to find where you are at.

Those are some of the items that you may need to use while you are camping.

Even if it isn’t someone that is with you that gets hurt, it could be another camper that you see. With a well stocked first aid kit you can be there to help them out as well. They may not have supplies and yours will surely be able to help them get the care they need until they reach a medical facility.

No one wants to think about accidents happening when they are out there camping and having a great time. They can happen though and the outcome can often depend on if first aid supplies are readily offered or not. Most of the time the problem can be very quickly resolved and then the person is back on their way to having fun around the campsite.

Proper Hydration is Essential When You Are Camping

Being anxious for your camping trip to take place is understandable. Yet in those weeks before you go you have to be getting your list ready of items to take with you. Since you will out in the wilderness you don’t want to forget any essential items. One of them that is very important is making sure you have enough water for everyone. Ideally you will want to have 1 gallon per day per person. Your camper trailer will make it easy to transport the required amount but you may also want to pack emergency back up bottles, especially if you are going to be heading out in an off road camper trailer.

That may seem like a great deal of water but not when you consider you may be using it to drink, to wash up, and to cook with. Proper hydration is very essential when you go on a camping trip. The body can start to have serious problems if you are lacking water. In Australia it can be warm all year long so you may be sweating while you are out there enjoying nature.

That can cause your body to lose fluids quickly so you have to replenish them. Water is the #1 way to do that. You shouldn’t be drinking lots of soda or other drinks due to the high sugar content. Even various sports drinks have high amounts of sugar in them so they aren’t the best for you. It can be tough to get children to drink lots of water but they have to in order to stay hydrated while being outdoors.

You can buy flavored water for them that will be more enjoyable for them to drink. There are tons of flavors so allow them to get some that they like. Then you won’t have the same battle with them to get it drank up. You can also add slices of lemon or lime to the plain water to jazz it up and add some additional flavor that they will enjoy.

There are also sugar free powders that come in convenient individual pouches. You just open one up and pour it into a bottle of water. Kids love to mix stuff and that will be half the fun. This can be another great way to encourage them to drink it.

Adults have to be properly hydrated too when they are camping in Australia. Make sure everyone has water at the start of the day and with meals. Try to have scheduled times throughout the day for resting and for drinking water. If everyone in your party does so you can feel confident that they will stay hydrated.

Signs that someone isn’t drinking enough water while camping include feeling dizzy, changes in mood, fatigue, and disorientation. Be on the lookout for such signs so that you can take action fast. Always take along more than enough water for your camping trip so that you don’t risk running out. If you have pets with you don’t overlook their needs for plenty of water as well.

What Are My Accommodation Options for Camping in Australia?

There is no lack of great places around Australia where you can go camping. One of the things you will have to consider before you choose one has to do with the types of accommodations that are offered. If you have your own caravan then it is often going to give you the widest selection.

Of course, we are partial to taking along a camper trailer, or using an off road camper trailer when you really want to tour off the beaten trail. But there are other options as well. :)

Most locations offer great campsites where you can pull your caravan into and stay for a day or for as long as you would like. Some of these locations have electricity and running water but others are bare bones. Make sure you think about what you really need so that you going without. Those campsites that offer such features can be limited in number so secure your reservation as soon as you know where you are going and when.

Staying in a tent is very affordable and it often allows you to camp in more isolated locations than with a caravan. You may have to park your vehicle down the road and walk to get to where you would like to put up your tent. Make sure you find out about any fire bans or other restrictions that could apply when you are in a given camping area.

You don’t want to be all set up to light a fire and cook food and then discover you have to put it out. You also don’t want to rely on a fire for night time warmth only to learn it is going to be very cold because you aren’t allowed to have that fire. Many areas of Australia where camping takes place are dry so fire bans are a common element to be ready for.

Renting a cabin is a great way to be able to go enjoy camping in many areas of Australia. Keep in mind though that cabins can be booked fast so you have to be able to really know when you are going to go. It can be tough to get one at the last minute. Cabins are limited in size too so you have to hunt around for what you want. Some of them have room for a family and some can hold 10 or more people.

You will find those that are clean and cozy but very basic. Others though offer you a fireplace, armchairs, movies, and even a hot tub so you can enjoy nature during the day but really pamper yourself at night too. For those that are camping with young children or that love the idea of a toilet and a hot shower a cabin can be a way to get the best of all the opportunities.
